Genesis
3
Verse
1
In
the garden of Eden, where life was serene,
Lived
Adam and Eve, in a world so pristine.
A
serpent so cunning, with whispers so sly,
Came
to the woman, and asked her, "Why?"
Chorus
"Why
not eat the fruit of the tree in the middle?
You
surely won't die, it's just a little riddle.
Your
eyes will be opened, you'll be like God,
Knowing
good and evil, isn’t that so odd?"
Verse
2
Eve
saw the fruit, so pleasant and sweet,
A
desire to gain wisdom, a forbidden treat.
She
took a bite, and shared with her man,
Eyes
were opened, they now knew God's plan.
Chorus
"Why
not eat the fruit of the tree in the middle?
You
surely won't die, it's just a little riddle.
Your
eyes will be opened, you'll be like God,
Knowing
good and evil, isn’t that so odd?"
Bridge
They
hid from the Lord, ashamed and afraid,
God
called out to Adam, “Where have you strayed?”
“We’re
naked and hid, for we felt the shame,”
“Who
told you?” God asked, “Have you played the game?”
Verse
3
The
blame game began, Adam pointed to Eve,
She
to the serpent, deception achieved.
God
cursed the serpent, to crawl on the ground,
Eve’s
pain in childbirth, and toil all around.
Chorus
"Why
not eat the fruit of the tree in the middle?
You
surely won't die, it's just a little riddle.
Your
eyes will be opened, you'll be like God,
Knowing
good and evil, isn’t that so odd?"
Outro
From
the garden they went, to toil and to roam,
With
knowledge of sin, they left their first home.
Guarded
by angels, with a flaming sword,
They
looked back in sorrow, now knowing the Lord.
