  Seeming Wise: When Wisdom Looks Better Than It Really Is There is a kind of wisdom that impresses people. It speaks confidently. It knows what to say. It has an answer for almost everything. It can quote Scripture, explain difficult matters, and even tell others what they should do. But there is another kind of wisdom that God values. It may speak quietly. It may admit, “I do not know.” It may listen before answering. It may choose humility when pride would be easier. The Bible warns us about the danger of seeming wise while lacking true wisdom . Paul wrote: “Do not deceive yourselves. If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age, he should become a ‘fool’ so that he may become wise.” — 1 Corinthians 3:18 The warning is not against intelligence.
