Genesis 16
Verse
1:
In
the days of Abram and Sarai,
She
had no child though she tried.
An
Egyptian maid named Hagar,
Was
at Sarai's side, never far.
Chorus:
Oh,
Hagar, a journey you embark,
From
sorrow to a story stark.
A
promise lies in the divine spark,
In
the wilderness, find your mark.
Verse
2:
Sarai
said to Abram one day,
"The
Lord has kept me from the way.
Go
to Hagar, let's not delay,
Perhaps
a child she'll display."
Chorus:
Oh,
Hagar, a journey you embark,
From
sorrow to a story stark.
A
promise lies in the divine spark,
In
the wilderness, find your mark.
Verse
3:
Abram
listened to Sarai's voice,
Hagar
then became his choice.
She
conceived, but it wasn't nice,
Sarai's
heart turned cold as ice.
Chorus:
Oh,
Hagar, a journey you embark,
From
sorrow to a story stark.
A
promise lies in the divine spark,
In
the wilderness, find your mark.
Verse
4:
Sarai
dealt harshly, Hagar fled,
In
the desert, tears were shed.
An
angel found her, and he said,
"Return
to Sarai, don't be led."
Chorus:
Oh,
Hagar, a journey you embark,
From
sorrow to a story stark.
A
promise lies in the divine spark,
In
the wilderness, find your mark.
Verse
5:
"I'll
multiply your seed," he told,
"Your
son Ishmael, brave and bold.
The
Lord has heard your cries of old,
His
hand against all, fierce and cold."
Chorus:
Oh,
Hagar, a journey you embark,
From
sorrow to a story stark.
A
promise lies in the divine spark,
In
the wilderness, find your mark.
Verse
6:
Hagar
called the Lord who spoke,
"El
Roi, the God who sees" she woke.
In
the land of promise broke,
A
well of life, a hopeful yoke.
Chorus:
Oh,
Hagar, a journey you embark,
From
sorrow to a story stark.
A
promise lies in the divine spark,
In
the wilderness, find your mark.
Outro:
Hagar
bore Abram a son that day,
Ishmael,
in the desert gray.
Abram
aged, still on the way,
God’s
promises, in hearts stay.
