Story - The Hare and the Lion’s Counsel (Inspired by Psalm 118:8,9)

The Hare and the Lion’s Counsel

Once upon a time, in a lush forest filled with whispering trees and sparkling streams, there lived a clever Hare who was always anxious about her safety. She heard tales of hunters and predators, and the fear made her restless.

One day, she saw the Lion, the king of the forest, resting under a tree. Hesitant but hopeful, she approached and asked, “Oh mighty Lion, can you protect me from the dangers of this forest?”

The Lion yawned and said, “I am strong, Hare, but even I cannot guard you from everything. There are dangers beyond my sight and strength.”

Feeling unsure, the Hare ran to the Fox, who was known for his clever plans. “Fox,” she said, “please make a plan to keep me safe.”

The Fox, sharpening his tail, replied, “I can plan, Hare, but plans can fail. You cannot control the wind, the river, or the hunters who roam beyond the forest.”

Disheartened, the Hare wandered until she came to the edge of a sparkling pond. There, perched atop a rock, was the wise Owl. “Owl,” the Hare cried, “I don’t know where to go or whom to trust. Everyone I’ve asked can only do so much.”

The Owl blinked slowly and said, “Hare, listen carefully. You are safe when you take refuge in the Creator of this forest, who watches over every creature, from the tallest Lion to the smallest ant. Trust in Him, not in strength or cleverness alone. He never fails.”

The Hare’s heart felt lighter. She realized that while others could help in part, true security came from trusting the One who sees all. From that day, she hopped freely through the forest, alert but not afraid, knowing her refuge was in the Lord.

Moral / Reflection

Strength, wisdom, or cunning can help, but they are limited.

True safety comes from trusting in God above all, as Psalm 118:8-9 reminds us.

In moments of fear, it’s better to seek divine guidance than rely solely on human (or animal!) power.

Application

When you feel anxious or threatened, remember that God’s protection is ultimate.

Pray and trust Him daily; He sees all dangers and guides you safely through them.

Help others understand that relying on God is stronger than relying solely on people, leaders, or plans.
