Verse
1
Joseph
wept for his father, his tears like rain,
Fell
on the face of Israel, free from pain.
He
ordered physicians, to embalm the king,
Forty
days of mourning, a solemn thing.

Egypt
mourned for Jacob, seventy days,
Joseph
sought Pharaoh, to honor his ways.
"Let
me bury my father, as he made me swear,
In
the cave of Machpelah, let him rest there."

From
the heart of Egypt to Canaan's sacred ground,
We
carry our burdens, where peace can be found.
In
the fields of Mamre, by the oak of the great,
We
lay down our sorrows, we open heaven's gate.

A
great procession, chariots and horsemen too,
To
the threshing floor of Atad, where the tears grew.
Seven
days of mourning, a lament so deep,
The
Canaanites wondered, as they saw us weep.

Joseph returned, to Egypt once more,

"Forgive
us," they pleaded, "for the wrongs we've done,"
Joseph
embraced them, saying, "I’m not the one."

plans are greater, than we understood.
So
we live in peace, in the land of our stay,
Trusting
in His mercy, day by day.
