Lyrical Bible

Genesis 43

Verse 1

The famine’s harsh, the brothers grieve,

Jacob’s sons seek reprieve,

They hear their father’s plea,

"Go back to Egypt, you must see."

Verse 2

Judah speaks with courage bold,

"We cannot go, truth be told,

The man warned, 'Don't come alone,

Bring your brother, or stay home.'"

Chorus

Oh, the famine’s fierce and the times are tough,

In a foreign land, the road is rough,

But faith will guide, and hearts will trust,

In the Lord’s plan, we place our trust.

Verse 3

Israel sighs, "If it must be,

Take the best gifts from our tree,

A little balm, a little honey,

Spices, myrrh, and some money."

Verse 4

"Take Benjamin, my youngest dear,

May God Almighty calm our fear,

Return with grain, and come back safe,

Or I am left in sorrow’s grave."

Chorus

Oh, the famine’s fierce and the times are tough,

In a foreign land, the road is rough,

But faith will guide, and hearts will trust,

In the Lord’s plan, we place our trust.

Bridge

When they reached the land so far,

Joseph saw them, heart ajar,

He ordered them to dine with him,

Unbeknownst to them, it's kin.

Verse 5

Brothers feared, their hearts did quake,

"Silver’s found, a grave mistake!"

They approached the steward’s place,

"We meant no harm, we plead our case."

Verse 6

The steward calmed, "Peace be to you,

Your God and father gave to you,

Your treasure safe, your fear allayed,

Simeon waits, as he’s stayed."

Chorus

Oh, the famine’s fierce and the times are tough,

In a foreign land, the road is rough,

But faith will guide, and hearts will trust,

In the Lord’s plan, we place our trust.

Verse 7

They prepared the gifts, made them right,

Bowed to Joseph, in his sight,

He asked of them their welfare,

"Is your father still out there?"

Verse 8

They replied, "Your servant's fine,"

Bowed again, a humble line,

Joseph’s heart with love did burn,

Saw Benjamin, tears did churn.

Bridge

In a room, alone he cried,

Wiped his tears, emotions high,

He returned, the feast begun,

Brothers ate, the meal was won.

Chorus

Oh, the famine’s fierce and the times are tough,

In a foreign land, the road is rough,

But faith will guide, and hearts will trust,

In the Lord’s plan, we place our trust.

Outro

Silver cups in grain concealed,

A test of love, their fate revealed,

Brotherhood and truth will show,

In trials deep, their bond will grow.
