1.               The Bible has evolved over time. The Bible is printed in several versions because language evolves over time. The versions need to adapt and update the Bible to a language that people of its current time can understand clearly.

 

2.               The Holy Bible has 2 core verses. Christians often recognize two core verses that summarize the Bible:

1 Corinthians 13 says – “I may have the gift of inspired preaching; I may have all knowledge and understand all secrets; I may have all the faith needed to move mountains — but if I have no love, I am nothing.”

John 14:6 says – Jesus said “I am the way… no one comes to God but through me.”

 

3.               The Bible is grouped into five classifications:

-    historical books, 

-    books of poetry,

-    prophetic books,

-    epistles and

-    the Gospels.

 

4.               The Bible has 17 historical books:

Genesis,

Exodus,

Leviticus,

Numbers,

Deuteronomy,

Joshua,

Judges,

Ruth,

1 Samuel,

2 Samuel,

1 Kings,

2 Kings,

1 Chronicles,

2 Chronicles,

Ezra,

Nehemiah, and

Esther.

 

5.               The Bible has 5 poetical books:

Job,

Psalms,

Proverbs,

Ecclesiastes, and

Song of Solomon.

These books are a link between the historical past and the prophetical books of the future.

 

6.               The Bible has 17 prophetic books:

Isaiah,

Jeremiah,

Lamentations,

Ezekiel,

Daniel,

Hosea,

Joel,

Amos,

Obadiah,

Jonah,

Micah,

Nahum,

Habakkuk,

Zephaniah,

Haggai,

Zechariah, and

Malachi.

These books were all written by the minor prophets of the Bible.

 

7.               The Bible has 4 Gospels:

Matthew,

Mark,

Luke, and

John.

 

8.               The Bible has 21 Epistles:

9.               There are 40 authors in the Bible. Over 40 authors contributed to the Bible. The authors’ statuses in life range from being kings, peasants, prophets, philosophers, fishermen, poets, statesmen, and scholars.

 

10.        The term “Bible” comes from the Greek word “Ta Biblia” which means “the books” or “the scrolls.” The word is derived from the old city of Byblos in Lebanon, the official supplier of paper production to the ancient world.

 

11.        “Mahershalalhashbaz" is the longest word in the Bible. Found in Isaiah 8:3, “Mahershalalhashbaz” is the longest word in the Bible. The word Mahershalalhashbaz means “Swift is the Spoils, Speedy is the Plunder.” The prophet Isaiah named his second son Mahershalalhashbaz.

 

12.        It took over 1,000 years to complete the Old Testament. The completion of the Old Testament took over 1,000 years in history. Meanwhile, it took 50-75 to complete the Word of God in the New Testament.

 

13.        The major religions follow the Old Testament. The biggest religions in the world follow the Old Testament, including Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Islam adheres to the Old Testament.

 

14.        According to some studies, Islam originated from Ishmael. He is the son of Abraham from Hagar and his concubine. The Bible says the Angel of the Lord appeared to Hagar in the spring of water on the way to Shur and said: “I will multiply your descendants exceedingly so that they shall not be counted for multitude.”

 

15.        There are only twelve prophets in the Bible. The twelve prophets in the Bible all contributed to the Old Testament. These prophets are Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi.

 

16.        After the Bible which sells over 100 million copies every year, the next bestselling book is ‘Don Quixote’ by Miguel de Cervantes with over 500 million copies sold. This is followed by ‘A Tale of Two Cities’ by Charles Dickens selling over 200 million copies, and ‘The Lord of the Rings’ by J. R. R. Tolkien with 150 million sold.
